Dr. Ahmed Majed Ibrahim successfully defended his Ph. D. dissertation, "Synthesis of 2D Transition Metal Carbo-Chalcogenide and Their Application as Electrode Materials for Electrochemical Energy Storage." Dr. Ibrahim delivered a spectacular presentation. Congratulations Dr. Ibrahim on the well deserved completion of your Ph. D., we wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors!

Two members of the Naguib Lab Group, Amanda Mayer and John Lochner, were announced as finalists in the NASA RASC-AL Competition. Amanda and John participated in the 'Large-Scale Lunar Crater Prospector' theme of the NASA hosted competition for their senior year-long capstone project. Their team of 5 was selected as 1 of 5 finalists within their theme! They will go on to represent Tulane University in Cocoa Beach, FL this coming June - well done, congratulations, and best of luck, Amanda and John!

Dr. Naguib presented at the "MXenes: US-Based Nanomaterial of the Century" workshop hosted by the U.S Department of Defense at Tulane University in conjunction with the 2024 Spring ACS Meeting & Expo. Several presentations on MXene applications were given by experts in the field to stimulate discussions among attendees. It was an exciting and thought provoking event; thank you to all for attending and participating!

Dr. Naguib received the Young Alumni Emerging Leader Award by Drexel University at the Drexel University Alumni Awards Ceremony. Each year, the Drexel Alumni Board of Governors recognizes alumni who have gone above and beyond in their professions, the community, and within Drexel. Well deserved, Dr. Naguib!

According to Clarivate: "Out of nearly 8M researchers in the world, less than 1% have published papers over the last decade that rank in the top 1% of citations for field and year. These are our Highly Cited Researchers. "

Our Novel Energy Materials group participated in the The 2nd International Conference at Drexel University. Students presented posters and Dr Naguib participated as a panelist in two of the panels. Majed won the 2nd best poster award (among 90 posters). Congratulations Majed!

Three members of our group have graduated or finished their term at Tulane. While we will miss them, we are very happy for them to start their careers:
Dr Kun Liang (Postdoctoral fellow 2019-2021), is now Professor at Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering.
Hudson McKinley (MS MSE 2021), is now a Battery Engineer at Tesla.
Shae Jolly (MS MSE 2021), is now a Battery Engineer at Advano.
